Could we have another case of mistaken tainted identity?

Former Bellator MMA welterweight champion, Lyman Good, was yanked from his upcoming showdown against 170-pound stalwart Belal Muhammad at the UFC 205 pay-per-view (PPV) event in New York because of a potential United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) violation.

But where there’s smoke, doesn’t necessarily mean there’s fire, as Good — as well as manager David M. Fish — maintain innocence. In addition, some fighters (like this guy) insist USADA has gone “overboard” with its testing.

“I’d NEVER cheat the journey of hard work and more importantly I’d NEVER cheat myself,” Good wrote by way of text message (via MMA Fighting). “The integrity of my name is something that I’ve worked too hard just to have it questioned because of whatever the [expletive] they’re saying is in my system.”

Good’s B-sample was tested on Tuesday (results pending).

USADA testing continues to be a point of contention among mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters. While the idea of weeding out cheaters works in theory, the practice of said weeding has failed to protect some athletes from the dangers of “juicers.”

Maybe Brendan Schaub was right?
